Work With New Zealand's Best
A specialist team. Meaningful work. No two projects the same.
Built differently. Grown carefully.
GSI is not a traditional geotechnical contractor. We own our equipment, employ our engineers, and run integrated design-build projects from hazard assessment through to permanent solution — all under one roof. That means the people who work here develop rare breadth: you understand the engineering, you understand the field, and you understand what it takes to deliver under pressure.
We have been operating in New Zealand since 2017 and we are still growing. We look for people who take quality seriously, who are energised by difficult problems, and who want to do work that genuinely matters — whether that means designing a slope stabilisation solution for a rural road or responding to a rockfall at 2am.
If you are looking for a desk-bound career, GSI is probably not the right fit. If you want to be in the field, involved in design decisions, and working alongside people who are genuinely excellent at what they do — we want to hear from you.
Roles we hire for
We don't always have live vacancies posted — but we actively maintain a pipeline of strong candidates for the roles below. If you fit, we want your CV on file.
Geotechnical Engineers
In-house design and site supervision on geohazard and ground engineering projects.
Engineering Geologists
Hazard assessment, geological mapping and technical reporting across New Zealand.
IRATA Rope Access Technicians
Level 1—3 certified technicians working on cliff faces, slopes and elevated structures.
Rock Drillers
Operating drill rigs for anchor, nail and grout hole installation on steep and remote terrain.
Plant Operators
Running specialist tracked plant on access-constrained infrastructure sites.
Project Managers
Coordinating multi-discipline design-build projects from first assessment to final sign-off.
We also take on graduate engineers and geologists who are looking for a non-standard start to their careers. If you are finishing a degree in geotechnical, civil, or engineering geology and want a role that puts you on site and in the design room from day one, get in touch.
What working at GSI looks like
Variety of Work
From urban ground improvement to remote rockfall response — the range of projects at GSI is unmatched by any single-discipline firm.
Design-Build Exposure
Engineers work closely with field crews — you design it, you see it built, you understand what works and what doesn't. That makes better engineers, faster.
Global Knowledge Base
GSI has completed over 10,000 projects across Australasia and North America. When you join the team you get access to a technical knowledge base that most firms in New Zealand can't match.
IRATA Training Pathways
For technical field staff, GSI supports IRATA rope access certification and progression — a skill set that opens doors across the industry.
Real Responsibility
We don't have large hierarchies. People at GSI carry genuine responsibility early — for engineers and field staff alike.
New Zealand Focused
Our New Zealand operation is growing. There is real opportunity to be part of building something — not just maintaining it.
